Alpine Slide
Kids two years and up can go on this slide, sliding down the hill on a sled. The steep curves and hills might scare them a little, but excite them even more.

The kids will love feeding sugar cubes and carrots to the horses. Then they get to go on a wagon ride through the mountains, seeing the landscape from a different perspective.

Gondola Rides
Take the kids on a scenic gondola or chairlift ride to the high vantage points over the valley instead of hiking. It will drop your group off at a lookout, with the mountains all around and the valley stretched out below.

Whether pedaling around town or taking an adventure on the mountain, families have plenty of options to bike around Park City in varying degrees of difficulty.

Backpacking & Hiking
The mountain trails are well-maintained and marked. There are lots of resources to direct visitors of all ages to an appropriate trail.

Horseback Riding
One of the most enjoyable and easiest activities for kids is mounting a horse, grabbing the reins and riding along the trail.

Teaching your child how to fish is a fun and rewarding experience for parents. There are reservoirs and rivers in the mountains around Park City, perfect for dropping a line.

Whitewater Rafting
There are no class 4 or 5 rapids, so the rivers around Park City are perfect to introduce kids to whitewater rafting and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Scenic Flights
Taking off from just outside Park City, kids will love rising up in a hot air balloon or a scenic flight. Both will give an exciting and educational perspective of the mountains and canyons.

Kayak & Canoe
Put the kids in the middle or give them a paddle and have them try it out for themselves. Paddling yourself out into a lake is a unique experience for kids of all ages. Don't forget the fishing pole!

Parents often think that children are too young to start rock climbing, but under professional supervision kids as young as 6 years old are able to climb up walls, come down, and then go again.

The running around, hitting balls with racquets and being outside, tennis is a great sport for children. There are many courts in the Park City area to play.


If skiing and snowboarding aren't enough to keep the kids thrilled while on a Park City vacation there's tubing, ice skating, eating, sledding, bowling and much more.

Alpine Coaster
The Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort has elevated track that tugs you to the top and gravity sends you winding through curves at speeds up to 30 mph.

Lifts take you and your tube to the top of the tubing lanes so you can slide down without all the work. Most lanes are lighted so it's the perfect ski activity.

Several touring outfitters can lead you and the family into the backcountry on snowmobiles for a couple of hours or a full day of trekking.

Park City's Mountain Trails Foundation builds and maintains hundreds of miles of trails even in the winter. It's so much fun you won't even notice you're getting a workout!

Ice Skating
Throw on some warm clothes and head over to one of two ice rinks in Park City. Park City Ice Arena is near the intersection of Hwy 224 and Hwy 40, and Park City Mountain Resort has an open-air rink. On site rentals are available at both places.

Train Rides
Trains depart the Heber Valley Railroad daily or take the Tube 'n Train Adventure that includes tubing hill at Soldier Hollow and a scenic ride down Provo Canyon.

Drive up to Deer Valley's Montage Hotel for their four bowling alleys, a darts room, Wii stations and a classic arcade for teens. Or you can just take a free shuttle to Kimball Junction and Jupiter Bowl, the upscale bowling ally that's also a restaurant, arcade and sports bar.

Movie Theater
Park City has two great art movie theaters. In town, there's the Holiday Village Cinema, and at Kimball Junction the Redstone Multiplex Theater.

The Egyptian Theater Company on Main Street offers theater and musical performances.

Park City Museum
Learn Park City's history through interactive exhibits and historical artifacts.

Swaner EcoCenter
With interactive exhibits, an innovative theater, and space for unique events, the EcoCenter is designed to inspire a deep respect for the natural world. Kids will love the play area, with climbing wall and child-friendly exhibits.

Utah Olympic Park/Alf Engen Ski Museum
Check out the interactive exhibits depicting the history of skiing in the Intermountain West and step into a virtual-reality ski theater or sign up for a Learn-to-Fly ski jumping clinic outdoors at the Park.

You won't be able to get the kids out of the South Summit Aquatic Center in Kamas, 20 minutes east of Park City. It's got water slides, a lazy river, indoor play area, and climbing wall. Kids under 3 are free.
